Station Master from UP Shocks Everyone by Cracking IFS Exam on His 8th Attempt – Here’s His Inspiring Journey!

Amrish Yadav: The Station Master Who Cracked the IFS Exam Against All Odds

In a remarkable story of perseverance, Amrish Yadav, a 32-year-old station master with the Indian Railways, has achieved the prestigious rank of 72 in the Indian Forest Service Examination (IFS) 2024. His journey from the bustling platforms of Marahra railway station in Uttar Pradesh to becoming an IFS officer resonates with many aspiring civil servants.

A Journey of Determination and Resilience

Attempting the civil service exams a staggering seven times, Amrish Yadav finally secured his dream position. Among the 143 candidates selected by the Union Public Service Commission, Yadav’s hard work and determination have paid off. He shares that the support from his parents, siblings, friends, and railway colleagues has been instrumental in his long and challenging journey.

"Finally, all my hard work has paid off. I’m happy with this feat, but my parents, siblings, friends, and colleagues are happier than me," Yadav stated in a recent interview.

His fascination with wildlife, particularly his desire to observe the reintroduction of the cheetah into India’s fauna, has further fueled his passion for the Indian Forest Service.

Family Legacy and Inspiration

Yadav hails from a family deeply rooted in public service. His grandfather, Suraj Pal Singh Yadav, retired as the chief train ticket examiner for Indian Railways in 2002, while his father, Srinivas Yadav, served as a Head Constable in the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC). With a younger sibling currently working as a constable in Jhansi, Amrish is part of a lineage dedicated to serving the government.

He expressed that while many in his family have served, none had cleared the civil services. This motivated him even more to break the barrier. "I wanted to join the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), but I feel closer to nature and believe I can make a more significant impact as an IFS officer," he noted.

Support and Motivation from Within the Railway

Since January 2023, Amrish has been serving as the station master at Marahra. His role in the Indian Railways not only supported his family financially but also provided him with invaluable guidance. He credits his seniors at the railway for motivating him throughout his preparation for the civil services.

"There were many within the railway who offered guidance and support," Amrish added.

This kind of mentorship is crucial in today’s competitive environment, where expert advice can make a marked difference in one’s preparation strategy.
